Author Guidelines

Before You Submit

Please note that a manuscript may be rejected if it fails to meet the journal’s standards in terms of originality, relevance, theoretical foundation, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, quality of analysis, and contribution to the field of library and information science. 

Authors are encouraged to carefully review the following requirements before submitting a manuscript to TIK ILMEU.

Requirement	Guideline
Scope	The manuscript must be relevant to Library and Information Science (LIS) and aligned with the journal's Focus and Scope.
Originality	Originality refers to the novelty of ideas, uniqueness of analysis, contribution to the advancement of knowledge, and absence of plagiarism or duplicate publication.
Exclusive Submission	A manuscript submitted to TIK ILMEU must not be under consideration by another journal.
Language	Manuscripts must be written in clear and appropriate academic English.
File Format	Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) using the current TIK ILMEU template.
References	References must be relevant, current, and appropriately cited using APA 7th edition.
Research Integrity	Authors are responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work.
Peer Review	TIK ILMEU uses a double-anonymous peer review process.

Article Types

TIK ILMEU accepts the following types of manuscripts:

1. Research Article

Research articles may employ quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, experimental, survey, case study, or other appropriate research approaches.

2. Literature Review

Literature review articles should provide a critical and structured synthesis of relevant scholarly literature. Systematic reviews, scoping reviews, bibliometrics reviews, and systematic mapping studies may be considered when appropriately designed and reported.

Manuscript Length and Format

Research Articles should generally contain 5,000–8,000 words, including the main text, tables, figures, and references.

Literature Review articles may exceed this range when the additional length is necessary to provide a comprehensive and academically justified analysis.

Manuscripts should:

• be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx);

• use the current TIK ILMEU manuscript template;

• be written in clear and coherent academic English;

• use objective and scholarly language;

• follow the formatting requirements specified in the journal template.

Double-Anonymous Peer Review

TIK ILMEU uses a double-anonymous peer review process. Authors must submit two separate files:

Manuscript with Author Details	Complete manuscript including author names, affiliations, email addresses, ORCID, and other required author information.
Anonymous Manuscript	Complete manuscript prepared for peer review without author names, affiliations, acknowledgements, self-identifying information, or other information that may reveal the authors' identities.

Authors should also check the document properties and file name to ensure that identifying information has been removed from the anonymous manuscript.

Manuscript Structure

The manuscript should generally follow the structure below.

Title	Concise, informative, and representative of the study. Maximum 18 words.
Author Information	Author names, affiliations, email address, and ORCID.
Abstract	Maximum 250 words covering objective, methods, findings, and originality/contribution, and conclusion.
Keywords	3–5 keywords separated by semicolons.
Introduction	Research context, problem, relevant literature, research gap, objectives, and contribution.
Literature Review / Theoretical Framework	Relevant concepts, theories, and previous studies supporting the research.
Methods	Research design, participants/data sources, procedures, instruments, analysis, and ethical considerations where applicable.
Results / Findings	Clear presentation of the main findings supported by appropriate evidence.
Discussion	Interpretation of findings in relation to previous studies, theory, and the research contribution.
Conclusion	Main conclusions, implications, limitations, and recommendations where appropriate.
Declarations	Author contributions, funding, conflict of interest, ethics, data availability, AI disclosure, and other applicable statements.
References	All sources cited in the manuscript, formatted according to APA 7th edition.

The structure may be adapted for literature reviews, conceptual papers, bibliometric studies, scientometric studies, and other non-empirical manuscripts, provided that the manuscript presents a clear and academically appropriate organization.

Title and Abstract

The title should be concise, specific, informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript.

• Maximum title length: 18 words

• Abstract: maximum 250 words

• Keywords: 3–5 terms

• Keywords should be separated by semicolons.

The abstract should clearly communicate:

1. Objective

2. Methods

3. Result

4. Originality

5. Conclusion

Introduction and Literature Review

The introduction should establish the context and importance of the research problem. Authors should clearly identify the research gap and explain why the study is necessary.

The literature review should not merely summarize previous studies. It should demonstrate how existing scholarship relates to the research problem and provide a clear foundation for the study.

Authors should clearly articulate the research gap, research objective, and contribution of the manuscript.

Methods

The methods section must provide sufficient information to allow readers to understand how the study was conducted and, where appropriate, to assess or reproduce the research.

Depending on the research design, authors should report relevant information regarding:

• research design and approach;

• research setting or context;

• participants, population, or data sources;

• sampling or selection procedures;

• research instruments;

• data collection procedures;

• data analysis techniques;

• validity, reliability, or trustworthiness where applicable;

• ethical considerations.

For mixed-methods studies, authors should clearly explain how qualitative and quantitative components are integrated.

For bibliometric or scientometric studies, authors should report the data source, search strategy, inclusion and exclusion criteria, analytical procedures, and software or tools used where relevant.

Results and Findings

Results should present the findings clearly and systematically.

Tables and figures should be used when they improve the presentation or interpretation of the findings. Authors should avoid presenting the same information redundantly in both the text and tables or figures.

Discussion

The discussion should interpret the findings rather than simply repeat the results. Authors should relate the findings to relevant theories, previous studies, and the research questions or objectives.

A strong conclusion does not simply repeat the Results section. It explains what the study contributes and why that contribution matters.

The conclusion should summarize the main contribution of the study and may include implications, limitations, and recommendations for future research or practice. 

Interpret the findings in relation to previous literature, theoretical perspectives, and the research context. The discussion should explain the significance of the findings, similarities or differences from previous studies, theoretical and practical implications, and the specific scholarly contribution of the study.

Conclusion

Provide a concise synthesis of the principal findings and their scholarly contribution. The conclusion should directly address the research objectives or questions and may include implications, limitations, and recommendations where appropriate. It should not merely repeat the abstract or results.

Citations and References

TIK ILMEU uses APA 7th edition for in-text citations and references.

Authors should:

• cite relevant and credible scholarly sources;

• prioritize recent literature while retaining important foundational works;

• use primary sources where appropriate;

• ensure that every citation appears in the reference list and vice versa;

• use a reference manager such as Mendeley or Zotero;

• provide DOI information where available;

• avoid unnecessary self-citation or citation manipulation.

Citation quality matters more than citation quantity. Authors should select references because they are academically relevant to the argument, not simply because they increase the number of citations.

Originality, Plagiarism, and Text Recycling

Manuscripts must be original and must not contain plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated citations, or inappropriate text recycling.

A manuscript must not be submitted simultaneously to another journal.

TIK ILMEU may conduct similarity screening as part of the editorial assessment process.

Similarity percentage is not, by itself, evidence of plagiarism. Editorial assessment will consider the source, context, distribution, and nature of the similarity.

Authors remain responsible for ensuring that all borrowed ideas, words, data, images, and other materials are properly acknowledged and cited.

Research Ethics

Authors must comply with applicable ethical standards for research involving human participants, personal data, vulnerable groups, or other sensitive information.

Where applicable, manuscripts should provide information regarding:

• ethical approval;

• informed consent;

• consent for publication;

• protection of participant identity and privacy;

• handling and protection of research data.

Authors must not disclose personally identifiable information without appropriate authorization or consent.

Authorship and Author Contributions

Authorship should reflect substantial scholarly contributions to the research and manuscript.

Authors should agree on authorship and author order before submission.

Where applicable, authors are encouraged to provide an Author Contribution Statement using the CRediT taxonomy.

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and should ensure that all authors have approved the submitted manuscript.

Requests to add, remove, or change authors after submission must be justified and may require approval from all affected authors. Changes to authorship are generally not accepted after the manuscript has entered the later stages of publication.

Required Declarations

Authors should provide applicable declarations before the reference list.

Declaration	Purpose
Acknowledgements	Recognizes individuals or organizations that contributed to the research but do not qualify for authorship.
Author Contributions	Describes each author's contribution to the research and manuscript.
Funding Statement	Identifies financial support received for the research or publication.
Conflict of Interest	Discloses financial, professional, personal, or other interests that could influence the research.
Ethical Approval	Provides information on ethical approval where required.
Informed Consent	Confirms participant consent where applicable.
Consent for Publication	Confirms permission to publish identifiable information or materials where applicable.
Data Availability	Explains whether and how supporting research data can be accessed.
AI Disclosure	Discloses substantive use of artificial intelligence tools in preparing the manuscript or conducting the research.

If a declaration is not applicable, authors should state this clearly where appropriate.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Authors may use artificial intelligence tools as assistive technologies, for example for language improvement, proofreading, translation, brainstorming, coding assistance, or routine data organization.

AI tools must not be used to fabricate or manipulate data, create false references, falsify findings, or otherwise compromise research integrity.

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of the manuscript.

Tables, Figures, and Supplementary Materials

Tables and figures should:

• be numbered consecutively;

• have clear titles or captions;

• be referred to in the main text;

• be relevant to the research;

• be of sufficient quality for publication.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material where necessary.

Supplementary materials may be submitted when they provide useful supporting information that cannot reasonably be included in the main manuscript.

Copyright and Third-Party Material

Authors are responsible for ensuring that all third-party material used in the manuscript is appropriately cited and, where necessary, licensed or permitted for publication.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that they have the necessary rights and permissions for the material included in the manuscript.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the submitted manuscript and for complying with the journal's policies on research ethics, authorship, originality, peer review, artificial intelligence, conflicts of interest, and publication ethics.

Submission of a manuscript to TIK ILMEU constitutes confirmation that the authors have read and agreed to the applicable journal policies.
