Editor Guidelines
TIK ILMEU – Jurnal Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi expects editors to manage manuscripts fairly, independently, and responsibly. Editors are responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal and the published record.
- Editorial Decisions: Editors should make decisions based on the academic quality, relevance, originality, and methodological soundness of a manuscript. Decisions must not be influenced by the author's identity, affiliation, academic status, nationality, gender, religion, or other personal considerations. The final decision on publication remains the responsibility of the editor.
- Peer Review: Editors are responsible for selecting appropriate and independent reviewers and managing the review process fairly. Reviewer conflicts of interest, confidentiality, and the timely completion of reviews should be properly managed. Editors should not alter reviewers' comments in a way that changes their meaning and should ensure that authors receive appropriate and constructive feedback.
- Confidentiality: Editors must keep manuscripts, reviewer reports, and editorial communications confidential. Information from an unpublished manuscript must not be used for personal or professional advantage. Editors should disclose information about a manuscript only to those directly involved in the editorial and review process.
- Conflicts of Interest: Editors must disclose and appropriately manage any conflict of interest involving a manuscript. An editor should not handle a manuscript when a personal, professional, financial, or other relationship could affect impartiality. Where necessary, the manuscript should be assigned to another editor.
- Use of Artificial Intelligence: Editors must not upload confidential manuscripts, reviewer reports, or other unpublished materials to public or third-party generative AI tools. AI tools may be used for limited administrative or language-support purposes, provided confidentiality is maintained. AI must not replace editorial judgment or make publication decisions on behalf of the editor. Editors remain responsible for all editorial decisions and communications.
- Research and Publication Ethics: Editors should promptly investigate credible concerns relating to plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, authorship, conflicts of interest, peer-review manipulation, or other forms of misconduct. When necessary, editors may request clarification, seek additional evidence, contact the author's institution, or take appropriate action in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policies.
- Corrections and Post-Publication Issues: Editors are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of the published record. When significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, editors should consider appropriate action, including correction, Expression of Concern, or retraction. The journal also provides opportunities for legitimate post-publication discussion and response.
- Fair and Respectful Conduct: Editors should treat authors, reviewers, and other contributors with professionalism and respect. Personal bias, discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate influence must not form part of the editorial process. Editors should also respond appropriately to legitimate complaints and appeals concerning editorial decisions.
