RECTRACTION AND CORRECTION

1. Introduction

Al-Falah: Journal of Islamic Economics is committed to maintaining the integrity of the academic record. This policy outlines the procedures for retractions, corrections, and article withdrawals in cases of errors, ethical concerns, or misconduct. The journal follows guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other relevant ethical standards.

2. Retraction Policy

A published article may be retracted under the following circumstances:

  • Plagiarism or Copyright Violation: If significant portions of the article are found to be plagiarized or infringe on copyright.
  • Data Fabrication or Falsification: If the research contains falsified, manipulated, or fabricated data.
  • Serious Errors: If the article contains fundamental methodological or analytical errors that invalidate its findings.
  • Ethical Misconduct: If there is evidence of ethical violations, such as undisclosed conflicts of interest, duplicate publication, or failure to obtain necessary ethical approvals.
  • Legal or Policy Violations: If the article violates legal regulations, such as defamation or breach of confidentiality.

Retraction Process:

  1. The editorial board, upon receiving a formal complaint or identifying an issue, will conduct an internal review.
  2. If valid concerns are found, the author(s) will be contacted for an explanation.
  3. If the concerns are confirmed, the article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be published, stating the reasons for retraction.
  4. The original article will remain accessible with a clear "Retracted" watermark, unless legal requirements mandate complete removal.

3. Correction Policy

Corrections may be issued for published articles if:

  • Minor Errors: Small mistakes (e.g., typographical errors, mislabeling of figures) do not affect the study’s overall conclusions but require clarification.
  • Authorship Corrections: Changes to authorship lists (addition/removal of authors) due to legitimate reasons, with approval from all co-authors.
  • Data or Interpretation Errors: Errors in data presentation or analysis that do not alter the overall conclusions but require clarification.

Correction Process:

  1. Authors or readers should notify the editorial board of any errors.
  2. If the correction is deemed necessary, the editorial team will publish a Correction Notice linked to the original article.
  3. Minor corrections may be updated within the article with a footnote indicating the changes.

4. Article Withdrawal Policy

  • Pre-Publication Withdrawal: Authors may request withdrawal before final publication if there is a valid reason (e.g., errors in submission, ethical concerns).
  • Post-Publication Removal: In rare cases (e.g., legal issues, privacy violations), an article may be removed entirely, with a withdrawal statement explaining the reason.

5. Editorial Discretion and Transparency

All retractions and corrections will be handled with full transparency and in accordance with COPE guidelines. The journal ensures that all necessary updates to databases (e.g., DOI records) are made to reflect these changes.
