Analisis Pemenuhan Fungsi Rekreasi Bagi Pemustaka di Dinas Perpustakaan dan Kearsipan Aceh Tengah

Abstract

This study, entitled “An Analysis of the Fulfillment of the Recreational Function for Library Users at the Central Aceh Library and Archives Office,” aims to analyze the extent to which the library’s recreational function has been fulfilled and to identify the constraints in providing recreational services for library users. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and and documentation. The informants consisted of five library users and two librarians from the service and planning divisions, selected through purposive sampling; therefore, the findings are contextual and exploratory in nature. 6The results indicate that the library’s recreational function has been relatively fulfilled only in the psychological aspect, as reflected in the availability of diverse recreational collections that provide entertainment and mental comfort for users. Meanwhile, the physical and social aspects have not yet fully met the standards of the library’s recreational function. Physical facilities such as digital resources, audiovisual rooms, multimedia spaces, and internet services are available but have not been optimally managed and utilized. The social aspect is also inadequately fulfilled due to the limited availability of participatory and sustainable recreational programs. The main constraints include budget limitations, collections that do not fully align with users’ needs, and the absence of routine and varied recreational policies and programs.
