The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has brought significant transformation in the education sector, particularly in the development of teaching media. This study aims to analyze the preparedness of students in the education program in facing copyright issues arising from the use of AI. The research method used is a qualitative approach through interviews with 30 students at a university in Yogyakarta. The findings show that although the majority of students show high enthusiasm in utilizing AI to create teaching media, such as using AI platforms like Canva and ChatGPT in making teaching media, their understanding of copyright is still limited. Many are still unaware that AI-generated outputs can pose potential copyright infringement issues. Students assess the importance of understanding copyright to avoid plagiarism and build professional ethics, but they feel that campuses have not maximized their support. This study recommends the need for integration of copyright and digital ethics material into the curriculum, as well as the provision of special training. This research also provides practical implications for educational institutions to prepare students to be ethical and responsible technology users.
