The masuk bagas tradition, a housewarming ritual practiced by the Mandailing community, has received limited scholarly attention from the perspective of Living Hadith, leaving the relationship between local cultural practices and Prophetic traditions insufficiently explored. This study aims to examine the implementation of the masuk bagas tradition, identify its normative foundation in Hadith, and explain how Prophetic values are internalized within the community’s socio-religious life. Employing a qualitative field research approach, data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation in Panyabungan Kota, Mandailing Natal Regency, Indonesia. The novelty of this study lies in integrating the Living Hadith approach with sanad and matn analysis alongside the interpretation of Mandailing cultural symbols within a unified analytical framework. The findings reveal that the masuk bagas tradition is religiously legitimized by an authentic Prophetic tradition concerning prayers for blessings, manifested through collective supplication, congregational prayer, charitable giving, and the strengthening of social bonds. Cultural symbols, including salt, eggs and chicken, white rice, and drinking water, embody philosophical and spiritual values associated with blessings, family harmony, health, and resilience. This study contributes to Hadith scholarship by demonstrating that the harmonious interaction between Mandailing customs and Islamic teachings represents a contextualized form of Living Hadith, serving as a medium of cultural da'wah while reinforcing religious identity, social solidarity, and the continuity of local Islamic traditions.
