Guidance Communication Strategy of Islamic Personnel in Reducing Stress in Class IIB Female Prisoners in Tebing Tinggi
Abstract
Stress is a psychological condition that arises as a response of the body to physical or emotional pressure, especially in an environment with limitations such as correctional institutions. The purpose of this study was to determine the communication strategy of Islamic workers or religious instructors in reducing stress in female prisoners at the Class II B Tebing Tinggi Correctional Institution. This type of research uses qualitative descriptive. with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research informants numbered 9 people including female prisoners, prison supervisors, and religious instructors who would then be analyzed by data reduction, data presentation, and determining conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the communication strategy used by religious instructors is carried out in several stages, including: first, introducing the character of prisoners; second, determining the method used, namely the lecture method, consultation, and learning the Qur'an; third, determining the material to be delivered, namely about encouraging verses and about friendship. The strategy implemented is still not optimal due to limited time constraints, limited facilities and infrastructure, different backgrounds of prisoners, and lack of interest of prisoners in coaching activities in prison.
