The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the explicit instruction learning model on the understanding of mathematical concepts in terms of self-reliance of junior high school students. This research uses quantitative research with Quasi Experimental Design research. The results of the study indicate that: 1) there is an influence between the Explicit Instruction learning model and the expository learning model on understanding mathematical concepts. Then students' understanding of mathematical concepts in the application of the expository learning model is no better than students' understanding of mathematical concepts in the application of the Explicit Instruction learning model; 2) there is no influence between students with high, medium, and low self-reliance categories on understanding mathematical concepts; 3) there is no interaction between learning model factors and self-reliance towards understanding mathematical concepts. The recommendation is that the application of the Explicit Instruction learning model can be an alternative in learning mathematics, especially in maximizing understanding of mathematical concepts for other discussions and can also maximize students' self-reliance.

Numeracy literacy (quantitative literacy); Early childhood; 21st Century skill
This study discusses the urgency of introducing the concept of numeracy literacy in early childhood. Numerical literacy is one of the most needed skills in facing the 21st century, especially for the young generation. The question still remains, when should these skills be introduced and trained to the young generation candidates. Should it be introduced and taught from an early age? The purpose of this study was to determine the urgency of introducing the concept of numeracy literacy in early childhood. This study uses a literature review method where the authors collect 7 studies related to numeracy literacy in early childhood. From the results of the review that the author conducted on the seven related articles, there are 3 (three) important reasons why numeracy literacy should be introduced to early childhood. Based on these reasons, the authors conclude that the urgency of introducing the concept of literacy to early childhood is quite high, because numeracy literacy is a basic skill that must be possessed in the 21st century and early childhood is a golden age where the level of intellectual maturity of children is formed up to 80%.

Problems; Heuristic; Representation
In mathematics, there are two criteria for questions or problems, namely challenging and demanding procedures that are not routine in solving them. The problem is a situation where a person is able to realize the existence of a situation and admit that the situation requires action and resolution that is not easy. By using problem solving strategies, students can make a mathematical representation of the problem, which is one of the abilities in mathematics related to problem solving, reasoning, proof, and communication. Conversely, if we choose the right representation, it will allow us to reach an effective solution to the problem. Heuristic is a strategy used to find and solve a mathematical problem using solving steps. There are many types of heuristic strategies that can be used in learning mathematics to solve problems, but in this study, will be discussed strategies by Mathlin, namely The Analogy Approach, The Means-Ends Heuristic, and The Hill-Climbing Heuristic.

Anxiety; Understanding Concepts; Mathematics
Understanding mathematical concepts are the first key in understanding the material because there is a link between one concept with another concept. The implementation of learning is expected to link mathematical concepts in everyday life. Internal and external factors of students are very influential in mathematics learning, one of them is mathematics anxiety. Mathematics anxiety that is processed by students well can make these students enthusiastic to learn mathematics, but conversely, if students are not able to process mathematics anxiety properly it will negatively affect mathematics learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine how much influence mathematics anxiety has on understanding mathematical concepts. This research is a descriptive quantitative research. The method used in this study is a survey method using questionnaires and questions in collecting data. The results of this study indicate that mathematics anxiety harms understanding mathematical concepts, with low chorea values. It can be interpreted that in this case, the respondent has not been able to process mathematics anxiety into motivation to continue learning to understand mathematical concepts. So anxiety has a significant effect on understanding mathematical concepts. From this research it is hoped that it can be used as a teacher's reference in carrying out mathematics learning, teachers can help reduce student anxiety by using learning models that are fun and effective, and teachers can provide motivation to students who experience mathematics anxiety.

Mathematical critical thinking skills; Binomial probability distribution; Gender
Entering the 21st century, having 21st century capabilities is very necessary to be able to answer all the challenges that are present in this century. One of the abilities of the 21st century is the ability to think critically. One of the factors that influences critical thinking skills is gender. Therefore, this research aims to use qualitative descriptive research techniques to describe students' mathematical critical thinking abilities, especially in the material on binomial probability distribution. The research subjects were taken using a purposive sampling technique, namely 4 students were selected, namely 2 male students and 2 female students in class XII MIPA 1 MAN 1 Semarang City. Considerations for selecting research subjects are seen from students' daily mathematics scores, students' gender, students' responses when learning mathematics. The data collection technique used in this research is the test method. The form of test used is an essay test. The data analysis technique is carried out through data reduction followed by data presentation and drawing conclusions. The data validity test was carried out through triangulation of data sources based on gender, namely male and female. The results of this research show that there are significant differences in analysis and inference indicators related to mathematical critical thinking abilities between male and female research subjects.

Ethnomatematics; Problem Solving
This study aims to see the effects of ethnomatematics in improving students' mathematical problem skills. This research uses literature study method. In this research, the knowledge, ideas, or findings contained in it are studied, so as to provide theoretical and scientific information related to ethnomatematics in improving the ability of mathematical problems. The data analysis technique includes 3 stages are: 1) administration; 2) synthesis; and 3) identification. From existing studies, learning that applies ethnomathematics in it, both as a medium and as an approach, has a positive impact on the learning process, because learning is more directed and students feel happy while learning, because students can be directly involved in the learning process. The use of ethnomatematics also makes students closer to these lessons, because it uses local culture as a learning medium. Where students are very familiar with the culture in their place of residence. So that these things increase the ability to handle student problems.

Concept understanding; Statistics; Learning style
Understanding the concept is essential in learning mathematics, where it is possible to have different achievements based on the characteristics of students' learning styles. Therefore, this study wants to describe the ability to understand mathematical concepts in terms of students' learning styles. This qualitative research was conducted at MTs Negeri 2 Semarang. Of the 31 grade VIII students at the school, it was found that 42% had a visual learning style, 32% had an auditory learning style, and 26% had a kinesthetic learning style. Furthermore, research subjects were selected purposively based on mapping learning styles, and six students were obtained. Data collection techniques used learning style questionnaires, concept comprehension tests, and interviews. Data analysis techniques use interactive models and check the validity of the data using triangulation. Research data management and analysis using Nvivo software. The results showed no significant difference in conceptual understanding between subjects with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles. The six subjects can do the test correctly and have been confirmed through interviews. However, the two visual learning style subjects cannot show the location of the mean, median, and mode of data presented in the diagram. This finding suggests that teachers should emphasize using various mathematical representations in student learning.
